About Therapy

What is Therapy?

Therapy is defined as method or treatment of helping mental illnesses, difficulties or struggles.

Psychotherapy, what I offer, is primarily a talking therapy, where we mainly talk through your issues, struggles and difficulties.

Within therapy with me, we will use different ways of working and different strategies alongside talking as not everyone feels comfortable with talking. I use different psychological therapies to tailor therapy to you and your needs.

Therapy, most importantly, recognises the importance of trauma and considers how traumatic events impact on you and your life.

What happens in sessions?

In sessions I work with you - YOU are at the centre of therapy. I work at YOUR pace with your story and on what you want to work on - what I do is to help make/offer/unravel those connections, reflections and feelings that feel can feel jumbled up for you.

First we meet in a session (with no obligation to continue afterwards), we will discuss the practicalities of sessions, how they work, how I work before we talk about you and what you hope to get out of therapy and your story.

If you want to book more sessions with me then we start working on you. Whether a direct problem, issue or processing trauma. We do this mainly by talking, helping you to feel comfortable in doing so by taking sessions at your pace. We work with your emotions, stories, your body at times and learning how to control your responses to emotions.

I have worked with people's inner child (we all have one!), talked through dreams, fears and anxieties. Helped people to work through fears and to process traumas and abuses people have suffered. I have even worked with someone who sat in silence for most of the session. I work and support you with whatever you bring to the session

These sessions are for you
